A fresh, aromatic, and balanced wine from Etna in one of the region's most famous crus, made with 100% Carricante, a grape varietal indigenous to Sicily. The vines here almost 20 years old and are planted on that famous Etna volcanic soil, which provides a very apparent minerality. Fermentation takes place in large barrels where it stays on the lees for five months—a wine to sit back and enjoy without having to think too hard about it.
Wine Enthusiast 94 points! "Enticing floral scents of spring blossoms and Spanish broom mingle with summer orchard fruit and wet stone. The tangy, savory palate boasts finesse and mineral tension, delivering juicy Meyer lemon, creamy pear, yellow apple and saline before a white pepper finish.”
Wine Advocate (Monica Larner) 91 points! "Here's a taste of Carricante in its youth and in its full primary glory. The 2018 Etna Bianco Pietrarizzo is not a lean wine, nor is it full-bodied. It's somewhere in between, with thick layers of peach, apricot and lots of fresh citrus. You get very distinct mineral notes such as crushed stone, flint and volcanic ash in this expression. This would be the perfect match for a grilled bluefish with lemon and thyme."
