2022 Jobard-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots

$129.99
2022 Jobard-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots

An exceptional late-release buy for Meursault, we have a limited quantity of this gem available today at the original release pricing! A small, under-the-radar six-hectare estate spread across some of Meursault’s finest vineyards, Jobard-Morey is immediately recognizable as the meeting point of two of Burgundy’s great winemaking families. Winemaker Valentin Jobard is a cousin of Antoine and Rémi Jobard. His grandmother was also Bernard Morey’s sister, who married into the Jobard family after World War II and laid the foundation for the domaine. Valentin’s grandfather worked closely with François Jobard, and that influence remains clear today in the classical, restrained style of the wines, much like what we find at Antoine Jobard. Les Poruzots is one of the most serious wines in the cellar, coming from roughly 70-year-old Chardonnay vines planted on a southeast-facing slope with only about 30 centimeters of topsoil before solid limestone bedrock! Fermentation takes place in barrel followed by roughly a year of élevage with only modest new oak, allowing the old-vine fruit and terroir to remain firmly in the foreground. The 2022 is exceptional and right there in quality with Antoine Jobard’s version of Poruzots, but available for less than half the price, making it a tremendously impressive value. Valentin is a rising star, and Jobard-Morey is an address to watch closely as the wines continue to gain attention. We have only been able to offer a few vintages from the domaine before, and this is a contender for one of the best buys for premier cru Meursault this vintage, and it is seriously worth checking out!

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 93+ points! "The 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzot wafts from the glass with aromas of white peach, pear, apple blossom, hazelnuts and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, it's seamless and vibrant, with an elegantly fleshy core of fruit, bright acids and a saline finish."

Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 92-94 points! "Fuller yellow but still with a green tint. Ripe greengage on the nose, suggests a gentle opulence. There is some of the square structure of the vineyard but the Valentin Jobard style of appealing plushness carries the day. Plenty left at the finish. He picks this earlier than his uncle used to."
