This Chianti delivers Reserva quality at Classico pricing. The 2019 vintage was fantastic for Quercibella, producing some of the best wines we have ever tasted from this estate. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards at 600-650 meters, the parcels for this Chianti are vinified separately, and about sixty different vinifications occur before the final blend. The wine spends one year in older oak and another year in a bottle before its release. This vintage has turned out to be magnificent, with fresh cassis, liquid minerals, soil tones, and savory herbs. The palate has incredible depth, vibrance, and prestige, with lingering notes of berry, red cherry, earth, and lots of dry extracts. It's a great bottle and will only improve with a few years of age, making it one of the best buys in the category! Bravo!
James Suckling 94 pts! "Plenty of sweet berry and cherry character with hints of stone and fresh mushrooms. Chocolate, too. It’s medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a chewy yet refined texture. Flavorful finish. Solid and very integrated. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold."
Decanter 93 pts! "Under the supervision of talented winemaker Manfred Ing, Querciabella makes relatively high volumes of terrific wines such as this top-notch Chianti Classico, bursting with captivating scents of kirsch, rose petals and sandalwood. It has a midweight mouthfeel laced with the essence of blood orange, sour cherry and animal musk. Fine tannins and tangy salinity lift the suave, vibrant finish. (Drink between 2023 - 2032)"
