2020 Domaine Jean Pascal & Fils Bourgogne Blanc

$29.99
2020 Domaine Jean Pascal & Fils Bourgogne Blanc
This is as good as it gets for Bourgogne Blanc, thanks to declassified fruit from organically farmed Puligny-Montrachet vines between 40 and 70 years old. Previously this was called Les Riaux but has since been changed to simply Bourgogne Blanc. Only about 10% new oak is used in this wine with no batonnage, and it is not fined or filtered. The result is sheer brilliance, and this is a Bourgogne Blanc with incredible precision. 2020 is the best version of this white Burgundy we have ever tasted and is a spectacular effort at this level. Aromas of white flowers like acacia blossoms, lemon chiffon, apple, peach, and liquid minerals exude from the glass. The palate has excellent density, with apple, apricot, and citrus fruit notes echoing with tons of dry extract and a touch of saline. This Bourgogne blanc drinks at the Puligny-Montrachet village level and is a fantastic buy for the category.
