Guillemot is one of the best in Savigny-les-Beaune and has long been a favorite address here, ranking up with Pavelot, Camus Brochon, and a few others. This classic Domaine is now in its 8th generation, producing the same age-worthy and elegant wines that perfectly show the individuality of these great terroirs. These wines show a brilliant rustic character but push towards a more refined style. It's a delicate balance and one that Guillemont has done an excellent job of perfecting over the decades. The Corton is the best wine that is made here and the only grand cru holding that Guillemont has, coming from a .30-hectare parcel with 50+-year-old vines grown on oolite soils.
2020 is a stand-out vintage for the Corton and one of the best examples produced at this domaine so far, with incredible purity of fruit, excellent complexity, and structure for aging. It's an outstanding buy for Corton and as it stands, one of the best buys of the vintage for Grand Cru Burgundy. We have a limited amount at this low pricing today and it is not one to miss for the Burgundy lover.
Wine Advocate (Willaim Kelley) 92-94 pts! "Notes of cherries, raspberries, licorice, rose petals and loamy soil introduce the 2020 Corton Le Rognet et Corton Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated wine that's layered and velvety, framed by lively acids and rich, powdery tannins, concluding with a long, nicely defined finish.
Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 91-94 pts! "Rich intense but lively purple. Extra muscle, fruit on the cusp of red and black but in a classical ripeness unlike Gravains. More weight of fruit, enough structure, rich and satisfying with a long finish. Some tannins right at the back. A powerful Corton which will take time to emerge."
