2020 Domaine Pierre Labet Bourgogne Vieilles Vignes

$44.99
2020 Domaine Pierre Labet Bourgogne Vieilles Vignes

Today, we have excellent pricing on a fantastic Bourgogne Rouge we haven't offered before. The 2020 Domaine Pierre Labet Bourgogne Vieilles Vignes is an old-vine (~50) Pinot Noir drawn from three plots around Chorey-lès-Beaune, where clay-limestone soils give generous fruit with a firm mineral line. The Labet family has deep Beaune roots and today farms holdings from Meursault to Gevrey. The Bourgogne is the sweet spot here, made with a large share of whole clusters for perfume and tension, then aged in 25% new oak with a supporting portion in seasoned barrels to preserve purity, and bottled with minimal handling. The warm, low-yield 2020 season produced reds that are ripe yet fresh, so expect vivid red and black cherry, raspberry, sweet earth and spice, fine-grained tannins, and good acidity that carries through the surprisingly long finish. It is delicious now after a few years in the bottle, but has the structure to age for a decade and is one of the best ways to get acquainted with this domaine, especially at this low price!
