2020 La Ca' Növa Barbaresco Vigna Bric Mentina Montefico

$44.99
2020 La Ca' Növa Barbaresco Vigna Bric Mentina Montefico
The wines of Ca'Nova account for some of the best buys in Barbaresco and have been some of the most impressive examples over the years. Though it has been a while since we have been able to offer these wines, we have two 2020s today, which are fantastic. Ca'Nova is a powerhouse of Barbaresco. The wines here hit the price-quality nail right on the head. It's not a glamorous production, but it is a passionate one. Many years ago, we visited with the winemaker during the summer and were enthralled with the old-school production.
We have the Montefico today, which is one the best buys from this address, and for Barbaresco, this vintage at slightly less than the Montestefano. The Vigna Bric Mentina Montefico is sourced from the Montefico vineyard, situated in the Barbaresco wine region of Piedmont, Italy. Covering approximately 1.5 hectares, the vineyard is characterized by its south-facing exposure and clayey-calcareous soil, contributing to the distinct terroir of the wine. This Barbaresco is crafted in a traditional style, undergoing extended maceration and aging in large oak barrels for 24 months, followed by additional bottle aging. In comparison to Montestefano from La Ca' Növa, the Vigna Bric Mentina Montefico this vintage is rather approachable and has profound complexity with gorgeous fruit and vivacity. It is a beautiful bottle of Barbaresco from this excellent site, and we have friendly pricing on this tremendous buy today.

Antonio gallon 94 points! "The 2020 Barbaresco Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina is a very pretty wine that captures all the magic of this great site, but without all of the explosive tension of the very best years. I doubt that will matter much to most consumers, though. A beguiling mix of macerated cherry, rose petal, dried leaves and spice builds into vibrant, salivating finish. In 2020, the Montefico is perhaps just a touch slender, but it makes up for that with its superb energy."
