2020 Marc Hébrart Champagne Premier Cru Special Club

$69.99
2020 Marc Hébrart Champagne Premier Cru Special Club

Marc Hébrart has become one of the benchmark growers of the Vallée de la Marne, and the newly released 2020 Special Club represents one of the highest expressions of Jean-Paul Hébrart’s beautifully balanced, refined style. Special Club is not simply a proprietary name; only members of the Club Trésors de Champagne may produce it, and each vintage must pass two blind tastings by an independent panel before approval, effectively serving as the grower’s prestige cuvée. The 2020 is built from roughly two-thirds Pinot Noir and one-third Chardonnay, principally from old vines in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ with additional Grand Cru fruit from Louvois and Chouilly. Each component is vinified in stainless steel with full malolactic fermentation, followed by roughly three years on the lees and a low dosage of around 5 grams per liter. The Pinot Noir brings plenty of depth and vinosity, while the Chardonnay keeps the wine lively and precise, with a fine mousse and a clean, saline finish. This is anohter fantastic vintage of this serious Grower Champagne and we have it today at this low price!

Wine Advocate 93 points! "A blend of 50% Pinot Noir from the commune of Mareuisur-Aÿ, 15% Pinot Noir sourced from Louvois grand cru and 35% Chardonnay from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Chouilly, the 2020 Brut Premier Cru Special Club Millesime offers up aromas of lemon oil, lime, verbena, herbs and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied, textured and structured, it has good freshness and is enhanced by a charming, delicate mid-palate, concluding with a saline, tense and ethereal finish. Dosage: five grams per liter."

Jeb Dunnuck.com (Audrey Frick) 93 pts! ) Pouring a bright yellow/silver color, the 2020 Champagne Special Club Brut is 60% Pinot Noir and the remainder Chardonnay it that was aged in stainless steel but did go through malo. The nose is delicate and fruity, with notes of red berries, fresh peach, cherry blossoms, and shortbread. Medium-bodied and juicy, it opens with a clean and refined texture, a fluffy mousse, and a nice lift of clean acidity on the finish. There is nothing austere about this wine, which is very powdery and clean in its feel. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. 5.5 grams per liter dosage. (Drink between 2024 - 2037)

Antonio Galloni 92 pts! The 2020 Brut Spécial Club 1er Cru is a pretty, elegant wine. The 2020 is airy and nicely lifted in feel, with perhaps a bit less depth than some vintages but none of the awkward contours that afflict so many 2020s. I would prefer to drink it on the young side while the fruit remains vibrant. Dosage is 5 grams per liter. Disgorged: February 29, 2024. (Drink between 2024 - 2030)
