2020 Hubert Lignier Bourgogne-Aligoté

$24.99
2020 Hubert Lignier Bourgogne-Aligoté
Hubert Lignier is a fantastic old-school Burgundy producer that we have had the pleasure of tasting with a few times. As part of the old guard of Burgundy, Hubert and his son Laurent craft classic wines with a nod toward the traditional, and over the years, these have been some of the most outstanding examples of Burgundy. This father-and-son duo truly captures the best of the vintage, and even the Aligote, which comes from vines planted in 1944, is exceptional and a serious example of the grape. Low pricing here today. This is a great cellar saver from one of Burgundy's great producers, with 2020 being a leading example. We have a limited amount due to arrive later this year, and it's one of the ultimate values for the Bourgogne category.

Tasting Note by Jasper Morris "Planted in 1944 by Laurent’s grandfather in a soil made up of 50cm clay on top of a gravel bed. Bottled in July. Perfect Aligoté nose, and indeed on the palate but ripe. Perhaps a bit fleshy behind, and a little lemon meringue. A tiny bit confected to finish, but really nice even if not quite the tension."
