2021 Tenuta di Trinoro Le Cupole Toscana IGT Eta W/O 5-20-2024
The 2021 Tenuta di Trinoro Le Cupole is the best version we have ever tasted and is a notable wine from the estate's 22-hectare vineyard in the Val d'Orcia region of Tuscany. Founded by Andrea Franchetti in the early 1990s, Tenuta di Trinoro is renowned for its meticulous approach to winemaking, employing low yields and rigorous selection to ensure high quality. The 2021 vintage was a small crop but benefited from a favorable growing season, producing a wine characterized by its blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. The vintage melded perfectly with the style here and is more of a classic vintage for Le Cupole. Known for its rich, structured profile, Le Cupole undergoes fermentation in stainless steel and ages in a combination of French oak barrels and cement tanks. There is incredible depth and complexity here, which puts many a super Tuscan to shame at a fraction of the price. It is drinkable now but will be at its best in another year or two. Lovely juice and a great value!

Wine Advocate (Monica Larner) 94 pts! The 2021 Le Cupole (a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot) is the well-priced entry-level red from one of the most prolific and creative wine estates in Tuscany. Le Cupole is velvety and full-bodied with dark fruit, dried cherry and sweet earth or terracotta. This is an incredible value. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, and the wine is matured in neutral barrique and cement. Some 100,000 bottles were released.

James Suckling 93 pts! Currants and flowers with cinnamon and some blood oranges. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and a lovely, supple finish. Delicious now. A blend of merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon with a bit of petit verdot. Drink or hold.
