2021 Walter Hansel Winery Pinot Noir The South Slope Vineyard

$44.99
2021 Walter Hansel Winery Pinot Noir The South Slope Vineyard
The 2021 South Slope Pinot from Walter Hansel is outstanding, and we have a limited amount in stock. A beautiful intersection between the classical French and the more modern domestic styles, this is a joy to drink and is a perfect example of the impressive price quality that Walter Hansel is known for. These are our last bottles, so take advantage of this friendly pricing before they are gone!

One of the staples of the Walter Hansel lineup, we typically offer the Chardonnay from Walter Hansel, but with 2021 being the classic Pinot Noir vintage that it is in the Russian River Valley, this was a must. The South Slope Vineyards Pinot Noir is the best Pinot from Walter Hansel this vintage and, decisively, the very best example of this wine ever. The South Slope begins at the highest elevation and the furthest South of all of the Walter Hansel Vineyards blocks, sloping from South to North about 45 feet with soils predominantly composed of sandy loam. The berry size is medium with a high berry count, giving cluster weight, and is the highest-yielding site they cultivate. South Slope is planted 100% to the French clone 777 and tends to show its earthy side far more than our other clones. It is a beautiful wine that captures the old-world French origin but with a modern touch, offering some incredible fruit that new-world drinkers enjoy. It's the perfect medium for Pinot Noir, and as Galloni says below, it's a knockout.

Antonio Galloni 96 pts! "The 2021 Pinot Noir The South Slope Vineyard is a classic Steven Hansel wine. A rush of dark cherry, plum lavender, rose petal and licorice are all dialed up. This boisterous, exuberant Pinot Noir has a ton of character. Plush contours wrap it all together in style. The 2021 will be nearly impossible to resist on release. What a knock-out! (Drink between 2024 - 2033)
