2022 Colene Clemens Pinot Noir Dopp Creek

$24.99
2022 Colene Clemens Pinot Noir Dopp Creek

We have special pricing today on the 2022 Colene Clemens Dopp Creek Pinot Noir, and it is one of the best deals for Oregon Pinot right now!. Dopp Creek has become a regular Wine Spectator favorite, scoring in the mid-nineties in recent vintages, and 2022 looks like one of the strongest releases yet. Colene Clemens is located where the Chehalem Mountains converge with Ribbon Ridge, on a beautiful 122-acre property planted in 2006, with vineyards ranging from 350 to 650 feet elevation on rocky, south-facing slopes of volcanic and marine sedimentary soils. The vineyard is planted to six different Pinot Noir clones, and that mix of clones, elevation, and soil seems to contribute to the wine’s elegance, texture, and balance. Farming is at minimum sustainable, with many organic practices, and careful crop management keeps yields low so the fruit can reach full physiological ripeness. In the cellar, the approach is straightforward and thoughtful: gravity movement, long lees contact, and aging, and in a balanced mix of new and older French oak, with the 2022 seeing 11 months in barrel and 33% new oak. It also helps that Stephen Goff (former assistant winemaker at Beaux Freres) is the winemaker, giving the wine a clear connection from vine to bottle. This is polished, expressive, and tightly allocated Oregon Pinot with broad appeal for both domestic Pinot drinkers and old-world Burgundy fans, and is a no-brainer at this price!

Wine Spectator 93 points! "93 Points! Sleek yet well-structured, with expressive flavors of raspberry and pomegranate accented by crushed stone, rose petal and black tea as this builds tension and polish toward refined tannins."

James Suckling 94 points! "Perfumed nose of red currants, sour cherries, frozen raspberries, crushed stone and wild herbs. Medium-bodied with bright acidity. Precise, agile and seductive, with a vibrant core of succulent berries and a lift of white pepper toward the persistent finish. Drink or hold."

Jeb Dunnuck 92 points! "The 2022 Pinot Noir Creek Estate is a youthful medium red/ruby color and was raised in 30% new French oak for 11 months. It offers a lovely aromatic bouquet of soapy flowers, red berries, crushed stones, and fresh forest herbs. Structured and juicy, it’s medium-bodied, with finely chiseled tannins, buoyant acidity, and a kiss of juicy sweetness as well as a clean finish. It’s a highly appealing wine now and offers a lot of value, as it should age gracefully over the upcoming 6-8 years. 4503 cases were produced. (Drink between 2024-2032)"
