2022 Domaine Trapet Bourgogne

$39.99
2022 Domaine Trapet Bourgogne

The 2022 Domaine Trapet Bourgogne is a strong value in the estate’s lineup, benefiting from meticulous biodynamic farming and a vintage that delivered ripe yet balanced fruit. Domaine Trapet, established in 1919 and now helmed by Jean-Louis Trapet, works 15 hectares across Gevrey-Chambertin and beyond, with a commitment to low-intervention winemaking. Sourced from estate parcels in and around Gevrey, this Bourgogne sees careful sorting, whole-cluster inclusion, and fermentation with indigenous yeasts before aging in used oak to preserve purity. The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was warm but not excessive, producing wines with concentration, fine tannins, and fresh acidity. This cuvée offers immediate appeal yet has the structure to evolve over the next 5–7 years, making it a smart buy for those seeking both early-drinking pleasure and short-term cellaring potential.

Jasper Morris 89 points! "In bottle. A pure pinky purple. The fruit starts out really pretty and then becomes rather firmer at the back, though this is only a question of time. Scented cherries, very long, not just a Bourgogne of immaculate purity, but tension as well."

Burghound 97 points! "Ultra-fresh aromas of red pinot fruit, spice and more discreet earth nuances lead to equally delicious and more finely textured middleweight flavors that possess notably better volume on the better balanced and sneaky long finish. This is quite good for what it is and worth checking out. (Drink starting 2025)"

Vinous (Neil Martin) 87 points! "The 2022 Bourgogne Rouge is aged in the open-top wooden tanks for one year. This floral bouquet has scents of white flowers infusing the dark berry fruit. The palate is well-balanced with gentle grip. There’s good acidity here with a brisk and refreshing finish. A delight."
