2022 Patrice Rion Bourgogne

$32.99
2022 Patrice Rion Bourgogne

The 2022 Patrice Rion Bourgogne Pinot Noir offers strong value from a well-regarded Côte de Nuits producer with a track record of precision and consistency. Patrice Rion, former winemaker at Domaine Daniel Rion until 2000, has been bottling under his own label since 1990 and farms a mix of estate and contracted parcels, with Bourgogne fruit largely sourced from vines in the commune of Prémeaux, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The vines for this cuvee are 40 years old on average and planted on clay-limestone soils. The 2022 vintage was a bit warm and dry but with excellent balance, yielding ripe fruit with moderate alcohol and good acidity. Rion vinifies with minimal extraction, followed by élevage in mostly older oak for about 12 months. This Bourgogne is bright, clean, and varietally true—red cherry, cranberry, light spice, and a touch of earth—drinkable young but structured enough to hold for 3–5 years. This is a great buy for Bourgogne Rouge, and we have a limited amount arriving this week!
