2022 The Setting Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

$94.99
2022 The Setting Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

This is one of the most exciting new releases of California Cabernet we have encountered in the last few years. A large format bottle of the Setting sold at the Emerald Lagasse Foundation Auction for $1,000,000, setting a record at auction for the most expensive single bottle sale. While the record was set by the Glass Slipper Cabernet Sauvignon, which is their most limited bottling, their Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is also of high quality and a steal at $94.99. This is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that is dense and rich yet has the balance to age gracefully over the next decade or so. This is the highest-scoring Cabernet in recent memory under $100, and to sweeten the deal, we will send this bottle via ground shipping for free as soon as weather permits!

Jeb Dunnuck (Audrey Frick) 98 pts! The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley comes from one of the coldest sites from which they farm Cabernet Sauvignon. A dark red color, the wine is forward with blue-fruited highlights and shining with notes of juniper, pine, violets, forest floor, and fresh herbs. It’s long, elegant, and focused on the palate, with a more linear feel, an even plushness of tannins, and redcurrants, cassis, and vanilla shining through to the long finish. Drink 2025-2050.

Wine Advocate (Erin Brooks) 95 points! "The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley, matured in 85% new French oak for 22 months, opens with red and black plum aromas that give way to nuances of lilac, garrigue, iodine and iron-like mineral tones. The medium-bodied palate is concentrated yet elegant, combining floral fruit with ultra-powdery tannins and juicy acidity, and it has a very long, nuanced finish. 3,000 cases produced."
