The 2022 Trimbach Riesling Réserve reflects the Trimbach family’s 13th-generation legacy in Alsace, dating back to 1626. Sourced primarily from estate and contracted vineyards across Alsace’s marl-limestone soils, the Réserve bottling is crafted with grapes selected for higher ripeness and aging potential. The family practices traditional winemaking: stainless steel fermentation to preserve purity and freshness, with no malolactic fermentation to retain acidity and structure. The 2022 vintage, marked by a warm and dry growing season, delivered healthy grapes with concentrated flavors and balanced acidity despite reduced yields in some areas. Trimbach’s consistency and focus on terroir make this Riesling a precise, age-worthy expression of Alsace. The 2022 Reserve is completely bone dry and a lovely mineral-driven example from Trimbach.
James Suckling 94 pts! Already on the nose this has a terrific interplay of stone fruit and herbal freshness with a tantalizing touch of spices. You feel the power and concentration of Alsace dry riesling from a warm, dry vintage, but also a wonderful citrusy freshness. A delicate chalky minerality echoes through the very long finish. 100% from estate vineyards in Ribeauville and Bergheim. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Vinous (Anne Krebiehl) 92 pts! The 2022 Riesling Réserve is mostly picked on limestone soils, including the Altenberg de Bergheim Grand Cru. A lovely stoniness defines the nose, with a serene chamomile and bright lemon lift. The palate adds rounded, generous, juicy Mirabelle fruit to this, edged with an ethereal herb savor, sinking into that deep, cool depth of the limestone. The 2022 is stony, bright, juicy, lip-smacking and taut. This is very Trimbach. (Bone-Dry) (Drink between 2026 - 2050)
