2023 Agricola Brandini Langhe Arneis Le Margherite Eta W/O 10-28-2024

I had a fantastic tasting with Ms. Giovanna Bagnasco of Brandini yesterday. Founded over 20 years ago by Giovanna's grandfather, she took over the estate in 2017. Giovanna immediately converted all the vineyards to organic practices and gained an organic certification some years later, also employing many bio-dynamic principles. I asked Giovanna why she put the daisy on the label, and She noted that once she started farming organically, the first flower to grow in the vineyard was a daisy, so she thought putting one on the label was fitting. This is the kind of Arneis I love; it is fresh and pure from vines at 900 feet elevation planted on sandy soils with an eastern exposure. The grapes are fermented and aged in a tank with Indigenous yeasts helping maintain the vibrancy of the grapes. This shows lovely aromas of white flowers, citrus, and liquid minerals, with hints of thyme and sage. The palate is focused and pure, with loads of dry extract, lovely acidity, and freshness. This is the ultimate wine to drink while cooking, for picnics, or a great way to start the evening. Impressive juice from this young and incredible winemaker!
