2023 Jobard-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots

$129.99
2023 Jobard-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots

A small 6-hectare estate spread across some of Meursault’s finest vineyards, Jobard-Morey is one of those under-the-radar addresses that savvy white Burgundy buyers should be watching closely. The domaine brings together two of Burgundy’s great families: winemaker Valentin Jobard is the cousin of Antoine and Rémi Jobard, while his grandmother was Bernard Morey’s sister, who married into the Jobard family after WWII, helping establish the roots of the estate. Valentin’s grandfather worked with François Jobard, and that influence still shows in the domaine’s classical approach, which favors structure, precision, and site transparency over flash. The 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots comes from a steep parcel of 75-year-old vines on shallow clay over marine limestone, a terroir that gives the wine both its power and mineral tension, and in 2023, it is especially impressive. Right there in quality with Antoine Jobard’s version but available for considerably less, this is a tremendously compelling bottle of Poruzots, and with our low pricing, it stands out as one of the best buys for the vineyard we have seen this vintage.

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 93 points! "The 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzot is one of the more immediate wines in the range, bursting with notes of pear, peach, citrus oil and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural palate that's generous and layered."

Jasper Morris MW 91-94 points! " From tank. A medium to full lemon and lime colour. Pure white fruit up front, added weight behind. Fills the mouth a lot more than the village wines, with pears apples and a touch of liquorice. Significant length once again. "
