We have a limited amount of the Chambolle AC from Bertheau remaining today, which is one of the best buys in the lineup from this Chambolle-based producer. Bertheau is one of Burgundy's most elegant addresses, working with one of the most elegant Terroirs in Burgundy, Chambolle-Musigny. As the adage goes, the depth of color doesn't equate to Burgundy's quality, and these ruby-red masterpieces have that old-school knack of gaining weight in the bottle while retaining their terroir transparency and lightness of touch. We have had the pleasure of tasting with Francois many times, and he takes a very traditional approach to his vinification, using older barrels with minimal intervention, preferring hands-off winemaking and allowing his wines to develop slowly. The 2023s are impressive even in their infantile state, accounting for some of the best wines we have tasted here. 2023 is an excellent vintage for Beartheau, showcasing excellent harmony between lovely fruit and expressive vineyard character. The Chambolle AC is sourced from 2.5 hectares of vines planted on limestone, which are approximately 50 years old. This is one of the best buys from Chambolle-Musigny every year, and we have a limited amount remaining at this low pricing!
Burghound 89-91 points! "An elegant, spicy and ripe nose combines notes of mostly red currant and cherry with hints of violet and plum. The sleek, delicious and punchy middle weight flavors possess a lovely texture as well as good detail while delivering very good depth and persistence in the context of its level. This is also a wine that could reasonably be enjoyed young or held for 5 to 8 years with success."
