This Pinot Noir comes from the lieu-dit Des Petits Chaliots, situated at the bottom of the hillside in Nuits-Saint-Georges proper, giving the wine a genuine sense of place despite its modest Bourgogne designation. In recent years, the style at Gouges has become increasingly refined and approachable while retaining the structure and character that made the domaine famous, and the generous 2023 vintage suits that evolution beautifully. Raspberry, dark cherry, and red berry fruit are joined by subtle earth and spice notes, with lively acidity, fine tannins, and a distinctly Côte de Nuits personality. There is more seriousness and depth here than one normally expects at the regional level, yet it remains fresh, uncomplicated and immediately enjoyable.
