The 2023 Pernot-Bélicard Bourgogne Blanc is another terrific example of how much value can still be found at the regional level from a talented producer with great vineyard sources. Philippe Pernot comes from the renowned Paul Pernot family of Puligny-Montrachet and founded Pernot-Bélicard after marrying into the Belicard family, gradually building a small domaine with an impressive collection of vineyards around Puligny. This Bourgogne Blanc is especially compelling, coming from several parcels located entirely within the commune of Puligny-Montrachet, giving it considerably more pedigree than the label might suggest. The 2023 is fermented roughly half in barrel and half in stainless steel and spends around 11 months on its lees, resulting in a wine with excellent freshness and purity. We just tasted this and thought it was a lovely bottle, with fresh orchard fruit, citrus, and white flowers joined by subtle stony notes, good depth through the middle, and a clean, energetic finish. 2023 is one of the best vintages here yet, and this wine, with a bit of time to open up, is a great way to experience the wines of this small address at a great price!
