2023 E. Guigal Condrieu La Doriane

$99.99
2023 E. Guigal Condrieu La Doriane

Another very promising new release from the masters of Côte-Rôtie, the 2023 E. Guigal Condrieu La Doriane continues the estate’s legacy as one of the Rhône Valley’s most revered producers. Guigal, founded in 1946 and still family-run, is known for its legendary single-vineyard Côte-Rôties—La Mouline, La Turque, and La Landonne—but their Condrieu is equally impressive. La Doriane is sourced from five of the appellation’s top Viognier parcels—Côte Chatillon, Chéry, Vernon, Volan, and Colombier—each with distinct soils and exposures that bring complexity and depth to the final blend. The 35-year-old vines are hand-harvested, and the wine is fermented and aged for 12 months in 100% new oak with full malolactic conversion. The warm 2023 growing season, tempered by timely September rains, yielded rich, ripe fruit with excellent balance and is a great vintage for Viognier, with this being one of the most outstanding examples of La Doriane ever. This vintage is showing beautifully already, with layered notes of apricot, white peach, honeysuckle, and hazelnut, all supported by a mineral edge and long finish. It’s one of the most consistent, high-performing white wines in France under $100, and we have some of the only bottles available in the U.S. at sharp pricing.

Jeb Dunnuck 98 pts! "The killer 2023 Condrieu La Doriane boasts gorgeous orange blossom, honeyed flowers, toasted spice, and grilled peach aromatics that build incrementally with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, focused, and pure, this brilliant effort spent 9 months in 100% new French oak and represents the crème de la crème of the vintage. I'd recommend drinking bottles over the coming 7-8 years, although it will keep longer. Drink 2025-2033."
