2023 Saracina Sauvignon Blanc

$19.95
2023 Saracina Sauvignon Blanc

The 2023 Saracina Sauvignon Blanc is a sharp value from Mendocino County, made by a sustainably focused estate with a 400-acre footprint but only a small portion planted to vines. Now run by the Taub family, Saracina has been producing wine since 2001, with a strong emphasis on organic farming, and has just been granted its organic certification. This vintage blends fruit from three key sites, including the historic Lolonis Vineyard, planted in 1942, which are the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines in the country. The 2023 season saw low rainfall and small yields, resulting in high concentration and bright acidity. Winemaker Alex MacGregor hand-harvested the fruit, used native yeast, and aged the wine in neutral barrels on lees for four months without malolactic fermentation. The result is a zippy, textured Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of lemon verbena, lime leaf, melon, and chamomile, finishing with electric acidity and a mineral edge. This is simply delicious and incredibly well-made, showcasing the beauty of these old Sauvignon Blanc vines, and is a tremendous buy at only $19.95, perfect for the warmer months ahead.

Wine Enthuisant 95 pts! "This wine is rich, zesty, with aromas of pineapple, mango, citrus blossom, and dried herbs on the nose. The flavors on the palate are Golden delicious apple, brulee orange slices, Meyer lemon cream, dried herbs, and a long mouth watering finish. The ultimate Old Vine SB experience. Pair with Grilled Spot Prawns, Dandelion Salad"
