2024 Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Maltroie is an excellent white Burgundy from one of Chassagne’s benchmark domaines, showing the depth, polish, and energy that have made Niellon one of the village’s most respected names. Clos de la Maltroie comes from a small premier cru parcel in the heart of Chassagne, with roughly half a hectare planted to Chardonnay and vines over 25 years old, giving the wine both concentration and a refined mineral frame. Niellon’s style is classic Chassagne: rich enough to show orchard fruit and texture, but always balanced by acidity, smoke, and limestone tension. The 2024 vintage was challenging and short in Burgundy, but the best whites are showing impressive clarity, freshness, and energy, and this site is already being praised for its floral aromatics, peach, citrus, ginger, orange pith, and fine persistence. This is a compelling Chassagne premier cru with real domaine pedigree, 2024 vibrancy, and the structure to drink beautifully over the next decade or more!

"The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Maltroie 1er Cru has a very aromatic and quite floral bouquet, with enticing scents of yellow flower mixed with wild peach and just a hint of acacia in the background. The palate is well balanced with a pleasing texture, a little pithiness coming through, a dash of ginger complementing the dried apricot and orange pith notes. Fine weight on the finish, with more persistence than the Village cru, this should give up to 15 years' drinking pleasure. (Drink between 2028-2043)"
