2024 Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py

$36.99
2024 Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py

We have the new release of Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py, the flagship wine from one of Beaujolais’ great biodynamic addresses, at one of the lowest prices we have seen on this bottle in years. Foillard, like Lapierre and Yvon Métras, is one of the defining growers of the region, but his style often leans more serious and Burgundy-like, with intricacy, nuance, and ageworthy structure rather than simple upfront fruit. Côte du Py is Morgon’s most famous site, a steep, stony hill of schist, granite, and iron-rich blue stone soils that give Gamay unusual depth, mineral drive, and long-aging potential. Foillard’s cuvée is sourced from vines ranging from about 10 to over 90 years old and is made in the traditional Beaujolais style with whole-cluster fermentation, gentle extraction, and 6 to 9 months of oak aging. The 2024 vintage was challenging and low-yielding, but careful growers made wines with freshness, energy, and real transparency, which suits Foillard’s style beautifully. Côte du Py is consistently one of the best examples of Beaujolais in any vintage, and at this pricing, it is a very easy buy for anyone who loves serious, cellar-worthy Gamay with Burgundy-like complexity.
