We love J Lassalle’s Champagnes, especially their Brut Rose. This is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Meunier with 6% of the Pinot Noir being direct press. All the vines that go into this bottle are an average of 50 years old, which is quite old for Champagne standards. This bottle is from the 2014 and 2015 vintages with a dosage of 9 g/l. It spends 42 months on the lees in their cellars. This is a gorgeous bottle of bubbles with a terrific mousse, fine bubbles, lots of red fruits, pastry dough and minerals all in perfect balance. We thought offering the 375ml would be fun for it’s difficult to find great Champagne in this format. These will be arriving next week.
Antonio Galloni 92 pts! The NV Brut Rosé 1er Cru is a pretty rich wine, especially for this address, where the Champagnes are often quite lithe. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure and overall feel, the Rosé offers quite a bit of intensity and persistence. Rose petal, cranberry, mint, citrus and white pepper all add attractive aromatic top notes. In this release, Lassalle's Rosé is a Champagne of real substance and textural depth.
