The 2022 Laurent Ponsot Bourgogne Blanc “Cuvée du Perce-Neige” is a beautiful Bourgogne Blanc, made by Laurent Ponsot after he left the family domaine in 2017 and launched his own Gilly-lès-Cîteaux project focused on precision, traceability, and authenticity. It’s 100% Chardonnay and has been produced consistently since its inception, with élevage in French oak (partly new) to add texture while keeping the finish saline and clean, which is exactly the point of the cuvée. In 2022, Burgundy’s whites are widely viewed as a strong, balanced vintage, with ripe fruit and surprisingly classical freshness, and moderate alcohols that generally sit in the 12.5–13.5% range, so this bottling lands in a sweet spot. One that can be enjoyed now and cellared for another 5 years, we have low pricing on this one today, and it’s a beautiful example of Ponsots work with Chardonnay!
