2022 Domaine Dampt Frères Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses

$69.99
2022 Domaine Dampt Frères Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses

We have an excellent Grand Cru Chablis made by the sons of one of Chablis's original names, Bernard Dampt. Together, three brothers, along with one of their wives, work to produce great wines under the Dapt name. Each person has their specialty, from winemaking to vineyard machinery to organic farming. Their collaboration enables them to focus solely on one aspect of the process, rather than having one person handle everything, with 2020 being one of the most exceptional vintages from this Chablis address. The wines here are very rare, and Dampt only bottles two Grand Crus, with Les Preuses being the best one made here, and it is simply fantastic in 2022. Made with 20%-30% used oak, depending on the vintage, the rest is aged in stainless steel tanks, promoting purity while adding some excellent complexity. This is a stunning bottle and one of the best examples of Preuses from this vintage, and is also the best buy, with most other comparable examples going for well over $100. We have an excellent price for this not-to-miss Chablis from the Dampt Brothers, and for the 2022 Grand Cru Chablis, this is one of the ultimate buys!

John Gilman 95 points! " I love the les Preuses bottling from the Dampt brothers, as these are their oldest vines in any of their fine grand cru holdings. The vines here are now between fifty-five and seventy-five years of age and the wine is outstanding in 2022. Like the other grand crus in the lineup here, the les Preuses sees about a third of the cuvée raised in older barrels and the rest in stainless steel. The wine this year offers up a beautiful bouquet of lemon, pear, oyster shell, limestone minerality, a touch of straw, dried flowers, beeswax and a gentle touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and impeccably balanced, with lovely depth of fruit at the core, a complex foundation of minerality, bright acids and excellent length and grip on the very classy finish. First class les Preuses!"
