2023 J.M. Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Canet

$129.99
2023 J.M. Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Canet

The J.M. Boillot 2023 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs-Canet is a fantastic white Burgundy and the best buy for Puligny this vintage. While not the domaine's oldest plot in Puligny, with vines planted between 1901 and 1960, it is their smallest holding at just 0.33 acres. Sharing the same broken limestone soils as Perrières and located just above Les Combettes, Champs-Canet is considered one of Puligny's elite sites. Jean-Marc Boillot is the grandson of Étienne Sauzet and founded this domaine in 1985, following his tenure as winemaker at Olivier Leflaive. Wines are crafted with a classic approach—utilizing wild fermentations, minimal intervention, and aging in 25–30% new French oak. 2023 will be another shining example, with the vintage delivering wines that rival the power of 2020 and the energy of 2022, showing the richness and precision expected from top sites, white flowers, ripe citrus, and crushed stone aromatics, leading to a focused, saline-driven palate with excellent mid-palate weight and a persistent mineral finish. It's A superb, age-worthy Puligny not to miss!

Jasper Morris MW 93 pts! Lemon and lime colour. The fruit comes across a little riper, with some plum skins. Notably generous on the palate but still with excellent acidity, an intriguing little touch of liquorice further back, quite complex.
