This sizeable Domaine in Meursault has continued to be an excellent buy for the money. We have another fantastic wine that we have never offered before, the Terroir d'Exception, which comes from a declassified young vine, Meursault Perrières fruit.
With new owners and a large cash infusion a few years back, the quality jumped to the world-class level by replacing the old wine-making equipment, cutting yields in half, and practicing sustainable farming. We have offered many of the 2020s this vintage, and while they are all fantastic, the Terroir d'Exception is truly the insider buy of the range and, as mentioned, is made from declassified young vine Meursault Perrières fruit and fruit from a vineyard bordering Perriers.
2020 is an incredible vintage for white Burgundy, and this is another excellent example from Chateau de Meursault and a very smart buy for a wine that sees premier cru fruit. This is an exceptional and the perfect candidate for this larger format. Right now, these are the only magnum bottles available in the world.
Jasper Morris 91-93 points! "Mid lemon and lime in colour. The nose has a little gunflint reduction, behind which there is a volume of fruit which speaks of quality Meursault. Citrus notes along with white fruit. Good length, another success here."
Burghound 90-92 pts! "The 2020 Bourgogne "Terroir d'Exception" has a well-defined nose, touches of honeysuckle and beeswax. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity; it's quite saline in the mouth with better depth and more freshness than the Clos du Château on the finish. Outstanding for its class, though that is no surprise if you look at its location! (Drink between 2023 - 2027)"
