2020 Domaine Dampt Frères Chablis Grand Cru Blanchot

$59.99
2020 Domaine Dampt Frères Chablis Grand Cru Blanchot
We have another late-release Grand Cru Chablis made by the sons of one of Chablis' originals, Bernard Dampt. Together, three of the Dampt brothers and one of their wives work to make great wines under the Dampt name. Each person has their specialty, from winemaking to vineyard machinery to organic farming. Their collaboration allows them to focus purely on one aspect of the process instead of one person doing it all, with 2020 being one of the most magnificent vintages from this Chablis address.
The Blanchot here comes from some of the oldest vines of the domaine that are at least 50 years old from a single parcel. Made with 20%-30% new oak depending on the vintage, and the rest sees stainless steel tank, with 2020 being the best example ever from this producer. This is one of the best buys for Blanchot this vintage, and currently, we have the only bottles available in the USA.

John Gilman 93+ points! "The Dampt brothers’ bottling of Blanchot hails from older vines than their Vaudésir, as their parcel in Blanchot is planted to vines that are at least fifty years of age. The wine delivers a deep and nascently complex aromatic constellation of apple, pear, a lovely base of limestone minerality, paraffin, white flowers, lemon zest and just a hint of oyster shell in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and deep at the core, with fine mineral drive and grip, zesty acids and a long, well balanced and vibrant finish. This too comes in at 13.5 percent octane, but the older vines here seem to have given the wine more mineral definition and backend lift and cut. Fine juice. (Drink between 2026 - 2055)"
