$99.99
2021 Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos
We have the top wine of the vintage from Christian Moreau today at this fantastic low pricing. The wines of Christian Moreau can be a challenge to acquire at reasonable prices, but we are able to make it happen today on this high-scoring Grand Cru. For six generations, this family has been curating the vines and making wine in Chablis and owns 12 hectares of Grand Cru Chablis, which makes up the core of their production. Moreau seeks to make wines that fully display the high-quality fruit and expression of these great vineyards, and as a result, these are incredibly pure and complex wines that show the fantastic interplay of power and elegance that Grand Cru Burgundy should have. While many producers have piecemeal holdings, the Moreau's have one continuous 3-hectare plot of Les Clos split into three parcels, which stretches from the bottom of the hill to the top, covering all the exposures and aspects giving a complete expression in the final product. The three parcels (bottom, middle, and top) are vinified separately but blended together to make the final cuvee with vines averaging 60 years old. The Clos vintage is outstanding and one of the best efforts from the Domaine of all time. It is a classic example with massive potential and should be incredible with ample cellar time. We have low pricing here, and it's easily one of the best buys of the vintage for Les Clos.

Vinous (Neil Martin) 93-95 points! "The 2021 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru was taken from tank rather than barrel. This was primal on the nose and challenging to read. The palate is more expressive: finely tuned with a fine bead of acidity, tensile and saline. It does not boast the complexity of Raveneau's Les Clos, tasted an hour or two before, but it has great penetration and a compelling flinty finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2025-2050)"

Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 93-95 points! "A healthy yield of 45 hl/ha. A paler colour and a more classic bouquet, all in white fruit, which swells across the palate, delivers class and charm, the acidity is really well integrated. Excellent persistence, this is a fine-boned rendition rather than muscular, and you barely see the wood. Drink from 2027-2034."

Burghound 92-95 points! "Here too the nose is presently dominated by reduction and wood toast. More interesting are the sleek, intense and ultra-fresh middleweight plus flavors that possess excellent size, richness and power where the latter suffuses the sappy, muscular and saliva-inducing, moderately dry and compact finale. This very promising effort is going to need at least a decade to realize its full potential. Impressive."
