$44.99
2022 Domaine Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre
We were able to get a bit more of the new Montee de Tonnerre Reealse from Louis Michel. This is consistently one of the best buys for MDT year after year, and this small reload is available at our same low pricing. This is our top Premier Cru Chablis every vintage, with 2022 being another not-to-miss example from Louis Michel and an excellent buy for the category at this low pricing.

2022 is the new release from Louis Michel, and it's set to be another exceptional example from this favorite address. The Montee de Tonerre from Louis Michel is our best-selling Premier Cru Chablis every year, with 2022 having the potential to be the best in the past few years with Jasper Morris stating the '22 vintage is neck and neck with 2020 and one of the best in the past several years.
The Montee de Tonerre from Louis Michel has been one of the most consistent best buys for Premier Cru Chablis over the past decade, and though 2022 is another warmer vintage, yields were not over the top, and the fruit was able to retain the vital high acidity required for brilliant Chablis. The '22s are abundant with freshness and minerality while retaining a pivotal balance with a signature of the vintage being perfectly ripe stone and tree fruits.
Louis Michel's portion of the Montee de Tonnerre was planted in 1974, giving the wine an old vine concentration, power, and complexity that will pair well with this vintage. Once again, this is an outstanding wine from Louis Michel and one of the top examples of the vintage for Montee de Tonnerre, especially when pricing is considered. It will do very well with some cellar time. This is up there with some of the best of the vintage, and today, we have low pricing on some of the only bottles available right now in the US of this new release.

Vinous (Neil Martin) 92-94 points! "The 2022 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with touches of frangipane infusing the citrus fruit and hints of dried orange peel coming through with time. The palate is well-balanced with a waxy-textured opening. Good delineation, quite saline, with a twist of sour lemon dovetailing into a slight nutty/smoky note on the finish. One of the finest Premier Crus from Louis Michel. (Drink between 2024-2040)"

Burghound 91-94 points! "A more elegant, airier and more floral-suffused nose combines notes of spiced pear and enough Chablis elements to be more than just interesting. The refined, delicious and caressing middleweight flavors possess very good punch on the firm, balanced, moderately dry and bitter lemon-inflected finish. This markedly stony effort is also quite good and worth considering."
