2009 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Clos du Bourg

$149.99
2009 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Clos du Bourg

John Gilman 97+ As brilliant as the 2009 Le Mont Premier Trie was showing, I was wondering if the Clos du Bourg Premier Trie would be able to match the fireworks. No problem! This too is a legend in the making, as the wine soars from the glass in a blaze of botrytized fruit- tangerines, yellow plums, fresh apricots, as well as honeycomb, gloriously deep and complex soil tones and a topnote of orange zest. The nose here is deeper, more youthful and perhaps, in the fullness of time, slightly even more profound than the brilliant Le Mont version. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and very intensely flavored, with the inherent power of the vintage seamlessly woven into an elegant girdle of ripe acids and stunning minerality. The finish is very, very long, brisk and focused, with flawless balance and a distinct closing note of pink grapefruit (that does not make an appearance in the nose at all- even after being open for a week in the refrigerator). This too is a great, great, great wine in the making. (Drink between 2020 - 2100)
