John Gilman 97+ The 2009 Le Mont Premier Trie is another absolute legend in the making. The bouquet delivers and wonderfully vibrant and complex mélange of yellow plums, sweet grapefruit, tangerines, lime zest and kaleidoscopic minerality. With extended air, the wine also sports incipient notes of the beeswax to come with further bottle age. On the palate the wien is deep, full-bodied, pure, powerful and glazed with very clean botrytis. The core is rock solid, the acids are brisk and ripe and the wine delivers absolutely monumental length and grip, while retaining a stunning sense of elegance and refinement. The great minerality of Le Mont is readily on display here providing a magical base for all of the tropical complexity to dance above. A great, great young wine that I am probably underrating a tad!
