2022 Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie Les Journaries / Maestria

$89.99
2022 Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie Les Journaries / Maestria

The 2022 cru bottlings from Bernard Levet are sensational, and we have a limited amount of the Maestria available. A fantastic example of single-site Cote-Rotie, Levet only has about 3.5 hectares of vines, which is extremely small, but has holdings in some revered vineyards throughout Cote-Rotie. There are only three wines made here, but they come from some excellent sites, each previously passed down and dialed in over the generations and currently operated by Bernard's daughter Agnes as she continues the legacy of this tiny Domaine. Les Journaries comes from a specific parcel planted in 1947 within the La Landonne lieux dit and is sold in Europe under the name Maestria. Since these bottles are coming from Europe, they will use the name Maestria on the label. It is an excellent example of power and elegance with great depth of fruit, floral and mineral complexity, and very fine tannins. 2022 is an excellent vintage for this cuvee, and we have low pricing today on this rare find, making it one of the top buys for Cote Rotie.

Jeb Dunnuck 94-96 points! "More blood, iron, liquid violets, and graphite notes, as well as a gorgeous core of gamey red and blue fruit, define the 2022 Côte Rôtie Les Journaries (Maestria in Europe), another medium to full-bodied, pure, balanced, elegant Côte Rôtie. It has plenty of tannins, yet they're integrated and elegant, and this is a brilliant barrel sample the fans of this estate will adore.<!--more-->I always love taste with Agnes Levet at her cellar in heart of Ampuis and these wines are as old school Côte Rôtie as it gets. It’s worth pointing out that the cuvée are named differently in the US and Europe, with the Les Journaries (US) and Maestria (EU), and La Chavaroche (US) and Peroline (EU), being the same wine."
