We have another excellent 2023 Chablis from Droin today, and it's another top grand cru buy this vintage! The 2023 Valmur comes from one of Chablis' most esteemed Grand Cru sites, prized for producing wines of richness, precision, elegance, and energy, and is one of our favorite Grand Cru sites. The Droin family, with roots in Chablis winemaking dating back to the early 17th century, is renowned for its meticulous vineyard work and sustainable farming practices. Fermenting and aging a portion of the wine in older barrels to add texture while preserving the crystalline purity of Chardonnay grown on Kimmeridgian limestone. The 2023 vintage delivered ripe, concentrated fruit while retaining the vibrant acidity essential to excellent Chablis, resulting in wines that are expressive from the outset yet built to age. Droin's Valmur exhibits layered aromas of citrus oil, pear, and white peach, alongside floral and oyster-shell notes. The palate combines weight and tension, finishing with striking saline minerality. The 2023 Valmur is one of the best wines of all time from Droin and offers both immediate appeal and the structure to develop beautifully over the next 10+ years.
