2022 Jean Noel Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes

$149.99
2022 Jean Noel Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes

The Chenevottes is one of the rarest premier crus from Jean-Noël Gagnard, and we were able to get a few cases at this low price. The Domaine, now led by Caroline Lestimé, is a benchmark Chassagne address that flies under the radar and has been one of our favorite addresses for decades. Les Chenevottes is a classic north-eastern Chassagne-Montrachet premier cru, planted on thin, stony limestone and marl, with an east-to-southeast exposure that favors tension over weight. While 2022 was warm and dry, it turned out to be a well-balanced season, and fruit was picked for freshness, whole-cluster pressed, fermented with native yeasts, and aged for 12–14 months in French oak, with a modest share of new barrels. The profile is precise and layered, with bright citrus, orchard fruit, and white flowers, and excellent minerality. The palate is concentrated yet linear, carrying clean drive and mineral grip through a long, mouth-watering finish. This is a superb example of the vineyard and a top buy at this low price!

Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 92 points! "Bottled in late July. Pale lemon colour. A pure and fresh bouquet, mostly white fruit. Particularly stony this year behind a raft of white apple fruit, plenty of energy, starting to soften at the back. Middleweight plus, quite attractive."
