2011 Weingut Reinhold Haart Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese

$39.99
2011 Weingut Reinhold Haart Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese
A recent release from Haart, the 2011 Goldtröpfchen Spätlese comes from one of Mosel's most esteemed producers, with a long history dating back to 1337, making it one of the oldest family-owned wineries in the region. Reinhold Haart is renowned for its attention to detail, focusing on low yields and sustainable viticulture to produce wines of exceptional quality and terroir expression. The Piesporter Goldtröpfchen vineyard is planted on a steep, south-facing slope with blue slate soil covering an area of around 25 hectares. This classic terroir contributes to the distinct mineral complexity and depth that is unmistakable for anything else but the Mosel. 2011 was a relatively cool and long growing season, culminating in late harvests that allowed for the development of concentrated flavors and well-balanced acidity, perfect for the sweeter classification of wines like spatlese. It's a focused vintage with an excellent balance structure and a perfect candidate for a late release. This superb classic Mosel Spatlese is in full stride and a steal at this pricing.

Wine Enthusiast (Aleks Zecevic) 97 pts! "Impressive integration of elements marks this beautifully-aged Spätlese that shows subtle power and density. The mix of passion fruit, mango, white raspberry, and star anise all mingle at the core, complementing each other as they unravel in layers. This just keeps coming at you. It shows impeccable balance, hence its impression is effortless. Ethereal finish doesn't let you put the bottle down. Drink through 2035

John Gilman 94 pts! "Johannes Haart has fashioned an absolutely superb Goldtröpfchen Spätlese in 2011, as the wine delivers an absolutely classic bouquet of apple, white peach, petrol, bee pollen, wild yeasts, a beautifully complex base of slate-derived minerality and spring flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish, crisp and beautifully transparent, with a fine core of fruit, laser-like focus and impeccable balance on the long, complex and snappy finish. A beautiful, beautiful bottle of Spätlese! (Drink between 2016 - 2035)"

Vinous (Joel Payne) 93 pts! "Subtle bouquet of gooseberry and nut oil, with a trace of something floral. On the palate the creamy apricot flavor is counterpointed by citrus and slate. The long finish displays an amalgamation of spices and mineral salts. One of the finest spatleses of the vintage."
