These bottles of this fantastic blanc de blancs are due to arrive in two weeks, and it is potentially the last time we will be able to offer the prestige at this price again due to the potential of tariffs on the horizon. The Diebolt-Vallois Cuvee Prestige has long been a client favorite of the house, falling into the sweet spot between the Fleur de Passion and the regular Blanc de Blancs. The quality of the Diebolt-Vallois Champagnes has been outstanding for a long time, putting them on par with some of the top Grand Marque Houses, but for much less. The Cuvee Prestige is like a baby Fleur de Passion but with Chardonnay sourced from three Grand Cru villages of Cramant, Chouilly, and Le Mesnil Sur Oger, whereas the Fleur de Passion comes strictly from Cramant. The Cuvee Prestige is also a blend of two current vintages plus some older juice from a Solera aged in large casks dating back to the 2008 vintage. This cuvee has a focused minerality from the heavy chalk soils the vines are planted on and shows incredible precision and clarity. This is a crisp and complex Champagne but not austere thanks to some oak aging, which tends to be the style of Diebolt Vallois in its youth, but with more age, they tend to round out, get more depth, and even more complexity. This cuvee is finished with a low 4g/l dosage, which is the perfect complement, highlighting the minerality here. The Cuvee Prestige is one of the great Champagnes at this level and an incredible bang for the buck for Blanc de Blancs not to be missed!
Decanter 92 points! "A dictionary-definition, crisp and invigorating blend of Côte des Blancs villages that treads a fine line between snappy, juicy pear and grapefruit peel fruitiness and a more serious side that features sea salt minerality and crusty bread, all presented with a measured, approachable concentration and full mousse. A model entry-level cuvée. (Drink between 2024-2028)"
