Some of Bordeaux’s greatest values have always come from estates left outside the famous 1855 Classification, and Château Chasse-Spleen remains the benchmark of Moulis-en-Médoc. We have a great example today in rare half bottles! Long regarded as one of the finest Cru Bourgeois properties, the château has repeatedly produced wines capable of challenging many classified growths at a fraction of their price. The excellent 2015 is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, combining the vintage’s ripe fruit with the firm structure and classical restraint that define Chasse-Spleen. Blackcurrant, blackberry, and raspberry are joined by cedar, tobacco, mint, flowers, and subtle savory spice, with a generous mid-palate framed by fine tannins and a persistent, fresh finish. Now entering a beautiful stage of early maturity, it has begun to develop the secondary complexity that makes aged Bordeaux so compelling while retaining enough fruit and structure to continue evolving for many years. This is classic Left Bank Bordeaux from one of the most reliable estates in the Médoc and an outstanding opportunity to acquire a mature, cellar-worthy wine from a great vintage in this small format!

James Suckling 94 pts!  This delivers a stylish impression from the get-go with a really nicely focused dark berry nose and hints of fresh pastry. The palate has a smooth array of bright blackberry and plum fruits with smoothly cut tannins that layer up nice and even. Classy. Best from 2022.
