2017 Massolino Barolo Parussi

$79.99
2017 Massolino Barolo Parussi
The 2017 Parussi from Massoino is delicious and is starting to drink great now. Massolino was founded in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino, the forward-thinker who brought electricity to the village. Massolino vinifies traditionally, aging in large Slavonian oak barrels for 30 months before bottling, where it aged for another year months in the cellar.
Parussi is sourced from a vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, resting at nearly 1,000 feet of elevation, where it slopes gently upward to the crest of a hill. This is a textbook Barolo from this area planted on clayey, sandy, and calcareous soils with vines averaging 40 years old.
2017 is one of the top vintages of this wine of all time. It is one that can be approached earlier and is starting to drink phenomenally now but will only get better with age. A classic and ethereal, enveloping with intense and persistent notes of sweet spices, sandalwood, tobacco, and leather with incredibly pure fruit, It is an excellent choice for the Barolo lover looking for top-notch Barolo at a fair price.

Antonio Galloni 95 pts! "The 2017 Barolo Parussi is a classic Castiglione Falletto Barolo. Sweet floral notes and bright, red berry fruit open first as the 2017 shows off its considerable charms. Medium in body and silky (for the year), with exceptional balance, the 2017 Parussi is stellar. This is an unbelievably classy Barolo. (Drink between 2025 - 2037)"

JebDunnuck.com (Audrey Frick) 95 pts! "Sourced from a 1.3-hectare parcel of Parussi in Castiglione Falletto, the 2017 Barolo Parussi is fresh with chalky mineral earth, red cherry, dried roses, and cedar. Ripe and vibrant, with dried raspberry leather, apricot, and sweet herbs, there are powerful tannins that balance the fruit. These are wines that need time to show their true potential and I think will be worth the wait. Drink 2025-2050. (Drink between 2025 - 2050)"
