2021 Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie La Chavaroche / La Péroline

$89.99
2021 Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie La Chavaroche / La Péroline
We have more of the newly released 2021s from a Cote-Rotie favorite, Bernard Levet. This time, we are offering the cru bottling La Péroline / La Chavaroche, which is a fantastic example of a single-vineyard Cote-Rotie. Levet only has about 3.5 hectares of vines, which is extremely small, but it has holdings in some revered vineyards throughout Cote-Rotie. Levet makes three wines from these excellent sites, each previously passed down and dialed in over the generations. Currently, the estate is in the hands of Bernard's daughter Agnes as she continues the legacy of this tiny Domaine. Chavaroche comes exclusively from the Chavaroche vineyard, which is located in the Cote Brune and sold as La Peroline to the European market. It is an incredible wine this vintage finished in older oak, and because they are coming from Europe, they take the European name on the label and will show La Peroline bottle. This is one of the top buys for a single vineyard Cote Rotie is one of the few producers in the region still offering incredibly made wines at reasonable pricing. The 2021 is a top example from Levet, and right now, we have the only bottles available in the USA of this new release, with 2021 being a classic, elegant vintage. Great note below from JNosh Raynolds; this is very limited, so act quickly if you are interested!

Vinous (Josh Raynolds) 96-98 points! "Displays potent, mineral-accented dark berry preserve, olive paste and incense aromas that are complemented by floral oil, pipe tobacco and exotic spice flourishes. Chewy, densely packed and sharply focused on the palate, offering intense, spice-laced blackberry, blueberry, bitter cherry, violet pastille and smoky bacon flavors that turn livelier with air. Closes on an emphatic mineral note, with solid thrust, gripping tannins and superb, floral-tinged persistence."
