We tasted this blind among other  Champagnes, and it bested the majority of the wines, and we were surprised to find out that it was actually a Cremant. Easily the best Cremant we have tasted this year, this Crémant de Savoie comprises 40% Chardonnay, 40% Jacquere, and 20% Altesse; the latter are two indigenous grapes of the Savoie region of Eastern France, which butts up against the alps. The vintage blend for this Cremant is 50% 2018 and 50% 2019, with a modest dosage of 8 g/l, which is less than some of the big house NV Champagnes are at.
The aromatics here are pretty profound, with brioche notes, savory spice, honey crisp apple, and liquid minerals. At the same time, the pallet is rich yet vibrant with a core of mineral-driven yellow fruits, salted butterscotch, bread dough, faint tropical notes, and saline on the finish. This is the perfect sparkling wine for holiday parties and daily drinking and has the elements to satisfy even the Champagne aficionado.
