2016 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile

$79.99
2016 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile
We have a bit left of this outstanding effort from Trimbach, which is one of the top renditions of the Cuvee Frederic Emile of all time. Typically always the best buy from Trimbach in 2016, this is Clos Ste. Hune quality, and if you were only to buy one vintage of this, Cuvee, 2016 is the one. We still have low pricing, and we highly recommend grabbing one before they are gone!

One of the best efforts of all time for the Cuvee Frederic Emilie 2016 is a masterpiece and one of those times that is clearly on par with the Clos Ste. Hune. Typically one of the best buys from Trimbach and especially so in 2016, the Cuvee Frederic Emilie has been the go-to for those looking for the best PRice Quality from Trimbach as one of the top addresses in Alsace. Trimbach's Cuvee Frederic Emile comprises two grand cru vineyards, Geisberg and Osterberg; both are farmed sustainably, with the average vine age being 45 years. In 2016 this Cuvee saw more fruit from Geisberg, which is typically not the case, as noted below in the Vinous review. The soils in the vineyards are a mix of marl, limestone, sandstone, and fossil-flecked Muschelkalk composition. The Frederic Emile is an incredibly mineral-driven wine with bright notes and a wonderful underlining salinity made as an homage to Frederic Emile, who put Domaine Trimbach on the map in 1898.
2016 is an excellent vintage for Alsace, and the wines from Trimbach are extraordinary, with the Cuvee Frederic Emile being the best buy this year once again and the best vintage for this Cuvee of all time. 2016 is not to be missed, and we have some of the only bottles available in the world right now.

Vinous (Ian D'Agata) 97+ points! "Luminous straw-yellow. Complex, mint-accented aromas of nectarine, tangerine and powdered stone, plus a hint of licorice. Then bright, juicy and dense, showing outstanding acid-sugar balance and a penetrating juiciness to the stone fruit and herbal flavors. Finishes multilayered and very long, displaying noteworthy clarity and limy cut on the saline finish. Wine lovers everywhere know just how great Frédéric Emile Rieslings can be, but this looks to be a real knockout in the making; I absolutely love this wine’s mineral drive and precision. It pulls off the neat trick of being both very ageworthy and also lovely to drink right now. I was happy to know that my palate was still working after an extremely long day of tasting when I told Pierre that in this vintage of Frédéric Emile I found more of the Geisberg than the Osterberg (in most vintages, the wine is a blend of 60/40 Osterberg-Geisberg, at times even 70/30, but this year it’s more like 55/45). (Drink between 2026 - 2039)"

James Suckling 96 points! "The lemon-sherbet note here is really beautiful. Then comes a wealth of herbs, ranging from thyme to parsley, with a touch of sea salt, before turning to more floral nuances, such as cherries and almond blossom. The powerful acidity seems to surround the whole mouth and makes this almost like licking a lemon; the unmistakable dryness is all the more enjoyable because of it. Long and very elegant on the finish. Drink now."
