We were able to source just over a case of Canon in pristine condition. Canon is our favorite chateau from St. Emilion for its price quality, and we have been offering back vintages of these wines for many years with great success. We have had numerous vintages of their wines and have always been impressed by the value these hold for older Bordeaux and how well they do in the cellar. The wines are made in a traditional, timeless style and seem to age effortlessly, performing their best when it has spent some time in the bottle. We were able to procure some bottles of the 1978 Chateau Canon from an excellent cellar in Bordeaux, and the bottles are in fantastic condition (pictured above). This wine was a tannic beast for decades but finally has come around and is at its plateau of drinkability four decades plus later and will continue to show very well. An excellent vintage for Chateau Cannon, this is showing wonderfully now and has some great recent notes on CellarTracker and is still very fresh with a remarkable presence of fruit and the complexity that comes with time in the bottle. This is a beautiful Right-Bank example of the vintage, and we have the only bottles currently available in the USA.
