1990 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Marconnets Ex-cellar

$159.99
1990 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Marconnets Ex-cellar

We have a case of 1990 Beaune Marconnets from Bouchard in OWC that was just released from the Doamine cellars in perfect condition. Located at the northern end of the appellation near the border of Savigny les Beaune, Marconnets is a great small site that is a mix of limestone and clay, with good drainage and a slightly elevated position that allows for excellent sun exposure, contributing to ripeness and structure in the wines. The 1990 vintage in Burgundy was outstanding and one of the top vintages of the 90s, marked by a warm, dry growing season that produced concentrated, well-structured wines with excellent aging potential. Bouchard's winemaking is very traditional, with open vats and aging in limited new French oak. This wine was made under the original ownership of the Bouchard family before they sold to Henriot in 1995, giving it some interesting history. This is beautiful now, and from this excellent vintage coming directly from the domaine cellars, it is a great buy with some excellent notes on CellarTracker showing this has tons of life and has the potential to go for another decade with no issue.

Burghound 91 points! "No bricking and just a hint of lightening at the rim. A solidly complex and mildly animale nose of mostly secondary fruit aromas that is layered if not particularly refined that introduces rich, concentrated and delicious medium weight flavors that, like the nose, are complex but not refined, culminate in a long, mouth coating and focused finish. This still has plenty of life left, indeed it should be capable of holding its own for several more decades without a problem."
