1990 Chenu-Lefebvre Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières

$89.99
1990 Chenu-Lefebvre Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières
We love finding back vintage deals from Burgundy, and we just found one that we think is worth grabbing. A friend in France recently tasted a range of back vintage wines from Chenu-Lefebvre. While it's not an address that is on anyone's radar, they are excellent wines in perfect condition that show a wonderful sense of place—being from Savigny-Les-Because where the wines are classic and have a refined rusticity and naturally are very structured and do very well with cellar time. This is an excellent example of that age-ability, and being from a great vintage like 1990 and an excellent premier cru like Les Lavieres doesn't hurt. This wine is still going strong and has a fantastic combination that we love seeing in older Burgundy with excellent terroir expression, complexity, and a nice dynamic between the still present fruit and savory components.
These are ex-Domaine bottles that have just been released, and only a few bottles have ever made it to the USA before. It is a well-balanced, textbook-aged Burgundy that is a great deal for a premier cru with over 30 years of age. These are some of the only bottles available in the world, and it isn't every day we can find a nicely aged premier cru for under $100 anymore. This is ready to drink now and is highly recommended for those who love older Burgundy or older wines in general but are typically turned away by the pricing.
