Louis Moreau is part of this great lineage of Chablis winemakers and the famed Moreau family. These are classic Chablis wines that are built on mineral definition rather than trying for opulent fruit. It is one of the more traditional styles that has remained a constant in Chablis, and while others might look to experiment, Louis Moreau sticks to their guns. Les Clos is an elusive wine that can be extraordinary when it's open, and the vines here were planted in 1958 and 1970. This is from a specific enclosed plot within the vineyard and a monopole of Louis Moreau. Hand-harvested and sorted, this is vinified in tank with indigenous years and sees no oak, aging on the fine lees for 18 months before bottling. It's a pure and transparent style only being in the tank and has been the norm since the 2013 vintage. Incredible mineral expression with cool citrus, 2017 was an excellent vintage for this Cuvee and Chablis which should continue to develop seamlessly for years to come. This version of Les Clos is exceptional, and the regular bottling of Les Clos received a 97 from Decanter, which means this should be on par or even better. A rare find in the USA, we have the only bottles of any vintage available in the USA.
