2019 Château Grand Mayne

$49.99
2019 Château Grand Mayne

Grand Mayne is a fantastic Château and we have some of the 2019 arriving next week. The 2019 Château Grand Mayne is one of the best wines made here in the last decade, and with a bit of age, it's starting to enter its drinking window. Owned by the Nony family since 1934 and now run by brothers Jean-Antoine and Damien, Grand Mayne has quietly sharpened its classical style without excess oak. The estate has about 14.5 hectares of vines in production, planted on clay-limestone slopes west of the village, mainly to Merlot with Cabernet Franc, with vines averaging 35 years old. The 2019 blend is roughly 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, fermented parcel by parcel in thermoregulated wood and stainless vats, then aged 18 months in French oak split between 50% new and 50% single-use, yielding refined tannins and clear site definition. The 2019 Right Bank vintage is exceptionally well-balanced, combining ripe fruit, freshness, and length; this bottle shows dark cherry and plum, graphite, and subtle cocoa, with a long, savory finish. Decant briefly and expect a prime drinking window from now and easily another decade, making it a confident buy for clients who want pedigreed Saint-Émilion with real upside, and is an incredible value for Bordeaux!

Vinous (Neil Martin) 95 points! "The 2019 Grand Mayne has a beautifully defined, pure bouquet of black cherry, blueberry, crushed violet and mineral aromas. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, crisp acidity and touches of dark chocolate toward the finish, which displays both power and elegance. This is a superb Grand Mayne courtesy of Jean-Antoine Nony. (Drink between 2024-2050)"
